The Doors had a major effect on me. To say I worshipped Jim Morrison as a teenager is a bit of an understatement. I had the poster from the picture at left on my wall.
But it started long before I understood what the words were on about.
This video is from The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour which aired on Sunday nights and I would always try and sneak downstairs to watch with my parents, so it is possible that I saw this when it first aired.
I was playing Light My Fire for my six year old son yesterday as that was my favorite song when I was his age. At seven I sang Light My Fire at my brothers Bar Mitzvah, where I overdosed on Coca-cola, a harbinger of things to come.
